Somerset ICB Integrated Clinical Lead
Steve has been a GP principal since 1989 and continues enjoying clinical work. He is a passionate generalist – but has a respiratory specialist interest. Steve has worked nationally and internationally on respiratory issues – and has more than 300 publications on mainly respiratory topics. He has been involved in national and international guidance and has worked to promote good quality care for people with long term conditions. He works on educational issues in primary and secondary care – and has regular involvement with Asthma and Lung UK as well as more local patient groups in encouraging change in practice.
He has worked in service development since fundholding in the 1990s through many changes and remains passionate to make a difference.
Steve enjoys music, running, watching rugby and time spent with his wife and two daughters.

Consultant Physician and Nephrologist
Andrew has been working as a consultant nephrologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust since 1995. He has an extensive experience in managing all aspects of kidney disease but has a particular interest in relation to the management of diabetes in the context of kidney disease.
Andrew is joint editor of the UK Kidney Association guidelines on the use of SGLT21 in adults with chronic kidney disease. He is also an educational leader supporting the next generation of doctors, having been the director Imperial’s Foundation School from its inception to 2010, London lead for Foundation Training 2010 to 2013 and Postgraduate Dean for South London from 2013 and 2018.

Professor of Renal Medicine, University of Leicester and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist, Leicester Hospitals
James Burton is Professor of Renal Medicine and Associate Dean for Clinical Research at the University of Leicester as well as an Honorary Consultant Nephrologist. He is the Clinical Vice-President of the UK Kidney Association (UKKA) and through both the UKKA and Kidney Disease | Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO), is involved in clinical guideline development for patients with kidney disease. He sits on a number of UK Kidney Research Consortium clinical study groups and is a member of the UK Renal Trials Network.
His research portfolio includes mechanisms behind the development of uraemic cardiovascular disease through to interventional clinical trials to improve patient outcomes; his clinical work with dialysis patients has been shortlisted for three NHS Innovation awards.

GPwSI in Diabetes, Cardiff
Dr Sarah Davies is a GP in Cardiff with a special interest in diabetes. She qualified at the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2003 and initially trained as a physician, before making the move into general practice and never looked back! She has continued her interest in diabetes and presents regularly on the subject to colleagues at local and national meetings. She is passionate about general practice, particularly great quality diabetes care in the primary care setting.
She is the Clinical Director for diabetes in primary care for Cardiff and Vale UHB and All Wales Lead for diabetes in primary care. She is a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion, Primary Care Diabetes Society committee member and a presenter for NB Medical Hot Topics, leading their diabetes course.
